Boon Boona Coffee — Renton Roastery & Flagship Cafe

Boon Boona Coffee was founded by Eritrean-American entrepreneur Efrem Fesaha following an inspiring journey to Asmara, Eritrea, where the communal coffee ceremony represents the sacred foundation of family and community life. Recognizing the need for uncompromised African green coffee sourcing in the diaspora, Efrem established direct-trade relationships with smallholder farming cooperatives across Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, and Kenya.

Operating its roastery and flagship cafe in Downtown Renton, Boon Boona serves as a major commercial beacon across South King County. Reflecting the core principles of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s international program “Building Our Economic Wealth,” Boon Boona demonstrates how diaspora commerce can build generational equity from African coffee farms to Pacific Northwest neighborhoods, offering a dedicated Sisterhood Advantage discount to members.

Renowned for its single-origin Yirgacheffe pour-overs, house-roasted Dur Feres espresso, traditional Jebena brewing sessions, and raw green coffee beans for ceremonial home roasting, Boon Boona is a central champion of June Black Dollar Days. Coffee lovers are encouraged to visit the Renton roastery or order fresh beans online.
